Ja sam pratio. Nije bilo ništa spektakularno poput direktnog prijenosa spuštanja Znatiželjka na Marsovu površinu, a nije ni moglo biti. Malo grafikona, malo animacija, malo intervjua s inženjerima, puno pričanja i pljesak kada je stigao signal sa MAVEN-a da su se motori uključili i pljesak kada je MAVEN javio da su motori parkirali letjelicu u Marsovu orbitu. :215: :hopla: :yes:

Uglavnom, NASA to radi rutinski, pedantno, efikasno i pouzdano. [71* :106:

Koje veze sad Rusi imaju sa bilo čime? ESA i Japan mogu poslati letjelicu gdje žele ako se ne varam, zašto se na njih ne referiraš?  :76:
Želio sam samo primijetiti da ništa u vezi svemirskih letova nije i ne smije (još duuuugo) biti rutina. Imamo nažalost previše primjera kada smo smatrali da su sad letovi u orbitu rutinski, što je dovelo do ljudskih žrtava i prekida programa. Olaki previdi (Mars Climate Orbiter) i svjesno omalovažavanje opasnosti (Columbia) pokazuju da rutinerstvo dovodi do tragedija i gubitaka. IMHO.
Svemir je za ljude što i more za Keptn Todra. Neprijateljski, opasan i prijeteći.

Meni se čini da je tu problem bio što se kontrola misije ponašala kao krizni management.  :zubo: Pa su probali iscijediti svaki cent i mijenjali su ciljeve i misiju koliko god puta treba da inženjeri dobiju slom živaca  :mrgreen:

No dobro da se ne jedi "čika" @Todor evo spiska svih uspešnih & onih koje nisu bile te sreće misija na Mars, verovatno je mislio da se pozove na to kako Mars bije glas "uklete planete" kada su u pitanju astronautička istraživanja.

Ruku na srce ne mogu da se otmem utisku a da ne primetim izrazitu "uspešnost crvenih sondi"...

Ions of Eight Metals from Comet Dust Detected in Mars Atmosphere
These eight graphs present data from a mass spectrometer on NASA's MAVEN orbiter identifying metal ions added to the Martian atmosphere shortly after comet C/2013 A1 Siding Spring sped close to Mars.

MAVEN's Neutral Gas and Ion Mass Spectrometer (NGIMS) directly samples the composition of Mars' upper atmosphere when the spacecraft dips into the top of the atmosphere during each elongated orbit. These graphs show count rates of specific types of metal ions from each of multiple dips during the period from Oct. 18 to Oct. 23, 2014. The time of the comet's closest approach to Mars is marked with a vertical line on each graph. Measurements were suspended temporarily around that time.

The vertical axis is detector count rates, with different scales for the different types of metals. The pattern for each metal is similar: no detection in the days preceding the comet flyby, a sharp peak shortly after the flyby, then a rapid return to virtually no detections.

The detected metals sodium and manganese each exist naturally as only one isotope. The detection charts include more than one isotope for nickel, magnesium, chromium, iron and zinc. Only one of potassium's three isotopes was detected.

The detection peaks resulted from dust particles that had been released by the comet's nucleus vaporizing as they entered the Martian atmosphere at high speed.

Comet Meteor Shower Put Magnesium and Iron into Martian Atmosphere
The places where the red line on this graph extends higher than the blue line show detection of metals added to the Martian atmosphere from dust particles released by a passing comet.

The graphed data are from the Imaging Ultraviolet Spectrograph (IUVS) on NASA's MAVEN spacecraft, which recorded the intensities of emission by ingredients in the Martian atmosphere just before (blue line) and after (red line) comet C/2013 A1 Siding Spring sped within about 87,000 miles (139,500 kilometers) of Mars on Oct. 19, 2014.

The "before" line records the usual main gases in the atmosphere, primarily carbon dioxide and its byproducts. The "after" line includes those plus peaks at 280 nanometer wavelength -- a fingerprint of ionized magnesium -- and other wavelengths that are fingerprints of iron. Researchers interpret this change as a result of vaporization of dust particles that came from the comet and entered the Martian atmosphere at high speed.

IUVS uses limb scans to map the chemical makeup and vertical structure across Mars' upper atmosphere.
